Congregational Care
Hospital Ministry – Each weekday the church seeks to discover members who are in area hospitals. Each day a different minister from the church visits members who are known hospitalized. For emergencies, the answering service contacts a minister during evenings and on weekends. Members are encouraged to notify the church office, 817/336-7277, when they know someone is hospitalized – often church preference is not recorded at hospitals when admittance is through the emergency room and changes to privacy policies limit our ability to obtain patient information.
The Stephen Ministry program provides one-to-one confidential support for people in need or crisis. Stephen Ministers are church members who have received over 50 hours of training in areas such as grief, divorce and separation, illness, stress and eldercare, as well as listening skills and prayer. Each Stephen Minister participates in bi-monthly supervision and regular continuing education. The care given to persons going through difficult times is not counseling nor therapy, but a Christian friendship of support and encouragement. For more information please contact Rev. Phyllis McDougal, 817/339-5082 or email.
Center for Creative Transformation offers professional counseling to members and non-members in our community and helps with professional referrals. For more information, please contact Charles Gaby at 817/339-3881 or email.
Lay Ministers of Care is a program designed to show support and love for both our members unable to come to worship and for those in our community who are in some way kept from participating fully in life. The LAMB (Less Active ‘Homebound’ Members are our Blessing) ministry offers those who are no longer able to participate in church activities, a friendly contact from the church. Flowers, sanctuary service DVDs and Upper Room devotional guides are some of the items delivered weekly to those not able to attend service. Volunteers are needed! For more information please call Byron Searcy at 817/529-1517 or 817/339-5098 or you can email Seniors@MyFUMC.org.
Flower Ministry Each week the flowers from the altar are taken to the flower room on the third floor, broken down and placed into small vases. The flowers are then delivered to members who are home bound, in the hospital or in nursing homes. We need a group of four to six volunteers who are interested in helping with this ministry. Volunteers living in different geographical areas of our city would be helpful so the flowers could go to Arlington, mid-cities, as well as the four directions from the church. For more information call 817/339-5098 or email Seniors@MyFUMC.org.
